Early Learning

Building the foundation for future learning begins at birth – with YOU.

Activities, services and resources for caregivers and children ages birth to 5 years old.

Story Times

Baby Story Time (birth-18 months with caregiver): Activities stimulate brain development with emphasis on caregiver-child interaction as we guide you through bounces, songs, movement rhymes, and stories.

Family Story Time (birth-5 years with caregiver): Activities provide fun and meaningful caregiver-child interaction. With selected stories, songs, rhymes, and movement, we model practices that families can repeat at home.

Writing Center

Children as young as 2 years old begin to imitate the act of writing by creating drawings and symbolic markings that represent their thoughts and ideas. Our writing centers at both library buildings provide opportunities for you and your child to practice writing together. Using our toy mailbox, your child can “mail” us their work; they might see their writing and drawing put on display.

Let’s Play!

Play is a simple yet powerful daily activity that supports a child’s brain development starting at birth.

Our library buildings provide play space for the enjoyment and development of our youngest patrons and their caregivers. Visit The Room to Grow at our Cook Park location in Libertyville and The Play and Learn area at our Aspen Drive location in Vernon Hills.
